A letter from the president

Welcome to the Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi!

Hi, my name is Vasi Papadopoulos and I am currently a junior at West Chester University where I am currently studying Early Childhood/Special Education. I have been given the honor to serve as the chapter president for the upcoming 2020 school year and I could not be more grateful for this experience. I am so excited to see how this position will grow me into a better leader. This position will give me the rewarding task of leading and guiding 120+ beautiful women through their journey with Alpha Phi. Since joining this organization, I have formed so many wonderful friendships with women that are my future bridesmaids. There have been countless community service experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. Joining Alpha Phi has truly been the best decision I have made throughout my time at West Chester. I have found my home away from home and I would not trade my experience for the world. Alpha Phi was founded in 1872 by ten very courageous on the values of sisterhood, service, scholarship, leadership, loyalty, and character development. Our chapter, Epsilon Kappa, was founded at West Chester University on April 18th, 1971 and we could not be more grateful. Epsilon Kappa is filled with exceptionally well-rounded and passionate women, all connected by the desire to live by our six values. We honor the value of loyalty by acting as a support system, uplifting and betting each other in any way that we can. Our sisters love and inspire one another, not just here at West Chester, but throughout each of our lives. Whether it is having a chip and dip/movie night at a sister’s house or our annual trip to the pumpkin patch each year, we love spending time and being ourselves with one another. It’s truly an honor to serve as President for such, strong, kind, light-hearted women, I am lucky enough to call my sisters! As women of Alpha Phi, we take great pride and honor in being the first Panhellenic chapter to have their own foundation as their philanthropy. The Alpha Phi Foundation strives to educate, support, and improve women’s heart health and cardiac care. Our chapter contributes to this important and amazing cause by holding annual events that not only raise money for our foundation but to also raise awareness for those who may not be educated on a cause that affects so many. These events we host include Hoops for Heart which is a basketball tournament and Move Your Phi’t Walk, as well our Red Dress Gala. Not only do we contribute to our own foundation but we encourage giving back within our own community as well. We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to donate teddy bears to pediatric cardiac patients at local hospitals this past semester. It truly is so rewarding to see the impact our organization can make not only at a national standpoint but locally. As a chapter, we take pride in scholarship, leadership, and character development. Our wonderful executive board works hard throughout the year to set the women in our chapter up for success. We do this by hosting study sessions, directive positions, and learning opportunities. I am so proud to say that we have been awarded by the Northeast Greek Leadership Association with the 2018 Amy Vojta Impact Award for academic achievement! It is such an honor to be part of such a driven and hardworking organization. All in all, there is so much that I could share about our chapter that I can even put into words. With that being said, please explore our website so you can learn more about us!! I wish you the best of luck during recruitment and hope you find your home just like I found mine! Please feel free to contact me at wcualphaphi@gmail.com with any questions about Alpha Phi or West Chester University!

Warmest Wishes & AOE,

Vasi Papadopoulos
